How should inoculants be stored?
Inoculants contain microorganisms
and should be stored under cool conditions. Room temperature is
acceptable for most, although refrigeration is probably most suitable
for inoculants intended for use with temperate legumes.
Some inoculants are provided as frozen concentrates and should be
stored in this condition.
Peat inoculants are supplied
at approximately 30% moisture content and should not be allowed
to dry out. If the packet is opened but not completely used, make
sure that it is resealed in a manner that retains its water content.
Dessication will lower cell viability and could result in poor nodulation.
Inoculants come with expiration dates. Use of the inoculant after
this date is not recommended.
